Recently, deep learning is the fastest growing area in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and has showm great performances in image recognition. This center’s large-scale project “Video Surveillance by Multiple Drones by Deep Learning and Intelligent Vision” was granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) recently. It is one of the many “Artificial Intelligence and Deep-learning Projects” supported by the MOST in Taiwan, starting from November 2016.
This project uses deep learning and computer vision techniques to develop an aerial video surveillance system with multiple cooperative drones. The high mobility of multiple drones will be employed to perform detection, tracking, and recognition of on-ground people and vehicles automatically. Aero-space collision avoidance and intelligent flight path planning will also be studied in the project. The project is expected to upgrade the academic research level of the computer vision technology for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications. Also, it is expected that the project can enhance the international competitiveness of Taiwan in the related industrial applications.
